The Marching Steelmen

The Joliet Central Marching Band, also known as the Marching Steelmen, is comprised of all members of the Joliet Central Band program.

Rehearsals
In order to prepare for our performances, we must rehearse as a group.  A full rehearsal schedule, including band camp (mandatory of all members), is located at our Calendar page.

Performances
The Marching Steelmen perform at all home football games and select parades and local events.  For a full performance calendar, please visit our Calendar page.

Leadership
The Marching Steelmen provides leadership training and opportunities for students.  Section leader and drum major positions are available for interested and qualified students.  Students not holding an official leadership role also receive leadership training and opportunities within the band program.

Sections
The instrumentation and roles of the marching band include flutes, clarinets, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, mellophone (horn), trombone, baritone, sousaphone, percussion, colorguard, and drum majors.  Students playing other instruments will play a secondary instrument in the marching band.  We do not march oboes, bassoons or baritone saxophone for student safety and/or instrument issues.
